The combination of epoxy resin and hardener produces a wonderful, tough-as-nails finish on nearly any object. Though resin is simple to use, preparation is essential; have your supplies and workstation ready before beginning the first mix. Heavy-duty plastic should be used to cover the flooring and worktable of a dust-free room or garage (preferably 65°F–70°F). To make cleanup easier, wear old clothes and latex gloves, and use disposable cups and stir sticks. You'll also need a level for flat tasks like artwork so the resin distributes evenly. After you've set your area, it's time to get creative, beginning with basic crafts like coasters and glossy artwork. Most resin kits cover many projects, so you'll have plenty to practice the technique.

1. The Supplies You'll Need

1.1 Materials Needed

      2. Step-by-step Tutorial

      2.1. Paint the bottom of the molds for accessories

      The first step is to take a painting brush and some colors and start painting the molds for accessories. You should start painting the mirror molds with gold, the lips mold with brown, and one lipstick mold with red and gold.

      2.2. Pour the epoxy layer in the molds

      For the woman silhouette mold, pour some clear epoxy resin untill it fills up. Next, the mirror molds: mix some clear epoxy resin with white color pigment and pour it in the mold untill it fills up. For the lips and the lipstick: mix some clear epoxy resin with purple color pigment and pour it in the molds untill it fills up. Next, for the last lipstick mold, pour some glitter at the bottom of the mold and then fill it up with purple epoxy.

      2.3. Remove the accessories from the mold

      Let the molds rest for about 12 hours and then remove carefully the accessories from the molds.

      2.4. Paint the woman silhouette

      Start by painting the dress and the hat of the woman in the red color and continue by painting the hair gold.

      2.5. Prepare and pour the epoxy in the cover molds

      Take two plastic cups, for each cover, and mix some purple glitter flakes, regular glitter and purple color pigment with the clear epoxy. Mix it carefully with a stirring stick till you get a homogeneous composition. Pour carefully the epoxy mix from the cups into the molds. Pour a glass into a mold.

      2.6. Place the gold accessories

      Start by placing the first accessories in the corner of the covers. Use a stirring stick or a tweezer to find the perfect fit. Glue them with nail polish gel and dry the gel with an UV pen. Continue by place two parallel gold wire lines to connect the corner accessories. Glue them with nail polish gel and dry the gel with an UV pen.

      Place some gold glitter on the cap and the dress of the silhouette and glue it with some nail gel. Apply a layer of nail gel on the silhouette to give it a glossy finish. At the end, place the silhouette under a uv lamp to dry the gel properly.

      2.8. Place the accessories on the notebook covers

      Start by placing carefully the woman silhouette in the middle of the front cover. You can use a tweezers for a more precise placement of the object. Continue by placing the rest of the accessories around the silhouette, you can put three on one side and three on the other side to create a symmetric look. Use the hot glue gun to stick the accessories to the cover to provide greater adhesion strength.

      2.9. Add the last layer of epoxy resin

      Pour a cup of clear epoxy resin on top of the cover to create a uniform look. Let it rest for about 4 hours in a mild temperature room.

      2.10. Create the notebook

      Place the back cover of the notebook on a table. Insert the locks on the cover and continue by placing the paper in the locks. At the end, place the front cover of the notebook and close carefully the locks. Congratulations, your notebook is finished!
